We are working to provide a continuous multi-user off road path from Rayne to Bishops Stortford for the benefit of walkers, cyclists and horse riders.  

Much of the 15 mile  route already exists and is known as the Flitch Way.

Our work is mainly focused on :
  • providing the off-road connection around Great Dunmow
  • providing a shared pedestrian /cycle link from the Flitch Way to Great Dunmow town centre
we are also looking at : 
  • improving the connection between Little Dunmow and Great Dunmow 
  • extending the path from Start Hill to Bishops Stortford and Stansted Airport

The benefits of the Flitch Way as a sustainable connection

We have created an Outline Business Case to help key stakeholders businesses and public institutions understand the benefits of using and enhancing the Flitch Way to connect Bishops Stortford, Dunmow and Braintree sustainably.
